Final Fantasy V MIDIs

There are now 48 Final Fantasy V MIDIs in the Sovereignty. I have some real good ones here, so browse through my collection carefully. Until I put up my Downloads page, which might not be in a while, you're going to have to email me if you want the whole thing (I can't imagine you'd want to download them all separately, it'd take forever). Enjoy.

Name of MIDI Description Rating
Battle The standard enemy encounter. A nice song, at a good pace. I personally like it, though it gets annoying after you've heard it hundreds of times in a row. 8.7
Battle 2 This one seems better than the first to me. 9.0
Black Chocobo This is a MIDI adaptation of the actual game music, so it sounds much less weird. If you heard it in the game, you'd think someone had one whiskey too many when they wrote this. 7.2
Boco the Chocobo! The theme of Boco the Chocobo! Ahh, something we remember from Final Fantasy IV. This song is a tradition passed down from generation to generation... 7.8
Boco the Chocobo! 2 Just as good as the first one. 7.8
Boco the Chocobo! 3 Will I ever get tired of those crazy Chocobos? Not bloody likely! 7.8
Boco the Chocobo! 4 We love the Chocobos! I like this one a bit better than the others. 7.9
Boss Fight Some parts of this are good, some are weak. It's not as good a theme as the boss fights of Final Fantasy IV or VII, but it's all right. 8.0
Castle An okay, light little theme for the castles of the first world. 7.8
Cave Theme A very good piece. Echoing sounds which fit the setting very well. Reminds me a little of the Final Fantasy IV cave theme. 9.2
Cave Theme 2 Another cave theme. I think this one is for the second world caves. This one's not as good as the first. 8.8
Day If you tell me the place this comes from, I'll give you credit. I remember hearing it on many different occasions, but I can't recall a particular one. 9.3
Day 2 This music is great, which makes my not remembering where it's from even worse. Please email me and tell me! 9.3
EfuEfu (Final Fantasy) This a long piece. A musical masterpiece, if I may say so myself. In fact, I call it a "Final Fantasy Symphony". This has been called the Final Fantasy Theme but people associate it with Final Fantasy V for some reason. 10.0!!
Exdeath Man, this guy's evil. Isn't this such a great theme? "Psycho"! 10.0!!
Fanfare The classic Final Fantasy fanfare. This, I think, is the best version of this song I've heard. This is a great piece. 10.0!!
Fierce Battle For whenever you're up against a really strong opponent. This one is great. It has that feeling of "oh-hell-we-gotta-win-or-we're-all-doomed". A very good theme. 10.0!!
Fierce Battle 2 This one's shorter than the first one, and has some weird-sounding instruments here and there. This warrants a slightly lower rating. 9.5
Final Battle The Fierce Battle was so much better. This is an okay piece, of course, but it's a little weak. Especially for the fight with Exdeath, who had such a good theme song. 8.4
Final Battle 2 This is practically the same as the first one. There's some new background effects, but I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Same rating. 8.4
Gilgamesh's Theme In the game, Gilgamesh is a puny weakling who is also very annoying. He attacks you a total of five times and each time his "might" is laughable. His theme, on the other hand, is great. It's fast paced and it's got some great-sounding parts which serve only to motivate you to beat the living crud out of this guy. People say this is the best fight music ever. Maybe not, but it is up there in the list. 10.0!!
Gilgamesh's Theme 2 The sounds in this adaptation are a bit weaker than in the first version. Some of the instruments seem to be a little weak, too. This one gets a bit less. 9.1
Gilgamesh's Theme 3 This is Gilgamesh's Theme, redone with some weird (but cool) techno-effects added. Made by Phil Lonidier. 9.3
Hiryuu! The Hiryuu is a cute blue dragon that flies around. You ride on his back on many occasions and he invariably gets ill, or wounded, or suchlike, thus you have to cure him and he becomes even more cute and lovable (sort of). In any case, the Hiryuu's theme is a wonderful piece. It seems to soar, like the Hiryuu itself. 10!! 10.0!!
Hiryuu! 2 This is also a good piece. It sounds more mellow. The instruments are good, and there's some deep sounds in the background. This, and the fact that Hiryuus are almost as cool as Chocobos, makes me give this one a 10 too. 10.0!!
Intro I'm not sure where this is from, once more. Email me if you'd like the credit. I assume it's a relatively early scene, since it's named "Intro". This piece is calm and soothing. I'd say it would be good for an overworld map. 8.8
Karnak (Drums in the Deep) I love this one. The deep sounds are the rumbling of the earth. This adaptation is even better than in the actual game, since it has echoing sound effects. (And I thought this would be the section to get only a handful of 10 ratings.) 10.0!!
Kuzar (Our Weapons of War Are Mighty) This could use some echoing sound effects, too. The melody is great. For those who don't know, this piece appeared in the castle of Kuzar, where 12 legendary weapons were sealed. This deserves a 10! 10.0!!
Lenna's Theme This piece is okay, I suppose. It's really quiet. Really, you didn't see too much of Lenna's personality in the game to reflect it in song. But, from what there was, this does a good job. 8.3
Lix (Butz' Hometown) I love this one. This is the theme for the main character's hometown, Lix. Here you find out many sad things about his past. That's why this music is so wistful. It almost makes me want to remember the good ol' days...*sob* 10.0!!
Music Box It's got an okay sound, I guess. But it's so simple! This is the music box you find in Butz' home in Lix. Compared to the other, multi-instrument pieces, this one is possibly charming, but not great. 6.9
Music Box 2 Just like the first one. (Man, there's always one song that brings the average down...) 6.9
Music Box 3 Now this one is just plain annoying. It's 8 minutes long, for crying out loud! While such a size would be preferable when listening to a really good song, it has the exact opposite effect when applied to the music box. 6.5
Prelude Ahh, the joyous chords of the Prelude...soothing... 10.0!!
Prologue The Prologue is all right. The beginning part really doesn't match some of the others, but it's a good start to the adventure. 8.3
Prologue 2 This one's quieter than the first. On the other hand, some parts of it are much stronger than in the first one. I guess you'd better listen to it for yourself. 8.4
Prologue 3 In my opinion, this one stands out a bit more from the others. Since the Prologues are the same size and are almost the same, it's kind of hard to judge. 8.7
Prologue 4 For some reason I like this one less. Maybe that's because there's some really weird effects in several select places. 8.1
Prologue 5 Yet another version. I guess it's pretty much average. 8.4
Prologue 6 Also pretty average. Louder than the others, too. 8.4
Reminiscence A wistful, and somewhat sad piece. The instruments are simple, but it kind of gets to the soul. 8.7
Sadness A lamentation of some sort. It is a bit sad, but the sadness seems to encompass the whole world... 7.8
Sealed Away for Ages This piece is really great in the game, but here it just doesn't do well. The instruments are to blame. Were I making an adaptation, I would have chosen much different ones. 7.5
Town Calm, peaceful, boring. Need I say more? 7.9
Unending Void This piece is really creepy. Theme for the final place you visit, the Void, sealed between two worlds. 10.0!!
World 2 Overworld At least, that's where I think it's from... It's all right. 7.8
World 3 Overworld This one's very good. It combines elements of the World 1 and 2 Overworld themes into a wistful, "whole-world-depends-on-us", "many-innocent-casualties", "must-save-civilian-lives" type of piece. 8.6
